2009 Kentucky Derby Winners
Mine That Bird, a 50-l longshot, hugged the rail and came through over the closing stretch to win the $2 million Kentucky Derby and register the second-biggest upset in the race's 135-year history.
Pioneerof the Nile was second, 6 3/4 lengths behind the winner, and Musket Man was third on a muddy track at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mine That Bird, ridden by Calvin Borel, completed the 1 1/4-mile course in 2 minutes, 2.66 seconds. It was Borel's second victory in the first leg of horse racing's Triple Crown after winning aboard Street Sense in 2007.
